CATERPILLAR EYEBROW ARCH – ⭐⭐⭐
The Dramatic Premise
Deloris Van Cartier is a promising singer with a booming voice. But her career has stalled. Her boyfriend, Curtis Shank, runs the night club at which she sings. But all his promises are hollow.
After yet another failed undertaking, Deloris decides it’s time to part ways with Curtis and take control of her own destiny. But when she goes to tell him, Deloris becomes an eyewitness to a murder. One of Curtis’ associates is suspected of squealing to the cops. So, Curtis has him killed.
Now Deloris must go into witness protection.
And so, Deloris finds herself decked out in a nun’s habit at the Holy Order of the Little Sisters of our Mother of Perpetual Sorrow.
Will Deloris change the convent or will the convent change Deloris?
Meanwhile, it emerges that the convent choir is beyond words. So, there’s work to be done!

A Fun Afternoon
Sister Act is unlikely to either change your life or give you a new perspective on the human condition.
But Sister Act is fun.
There are some catchy tunes. And the odd belly laugh.
You may well be shifting in your seat, expecting Whoopi Goldberg to make an appearance at any minute. But Casey Donovan does a splendid job in the lead role. I’ve seen Casey in We Will Rock You and & Juliet. But this was Donovan at her commanding best. She captured and held my attention in every scene she was in.
A special mention also for the always wonderful Rhonda Burchmore, as Sister Mary Lazarus, and Genevieve Lemon, as Mother Superior. Burchmore, in particular, was hilarious as she juxtaposed a conservative nun’s outfit with some truly reprehensible dance steps.
What My Eyebrows Told Me
Sister Act is a simple pleasure. My eyebrows enjoyed the performance from start to finish as they fixed themselves in a caterpillar arch which twitched in time with the music.
