THE BANDICOOT HAS WINGS
It’s 1985 in Sidebottom’s Reach, a country town in New South Wales on the Balmoral River, several hours on the bus from Sydney.
The townsfolk live in a state of controlled disharmony, until a mysterious celestial body falls from the sky and throws the township into a tailspin.
An accomplished solicitor plagued by self-doubt. A Mayor at war with the local press. A British publican struggling to make her heritage-listed hotel profitable. An idealistic waitress yearning to leave town. A former Wallaby searching for immortality. A nefarious youth on his last warning. To say nothing of an insurance scam, a parking fine, frontal-lobe damage, a scandalous affair, a handsome visitor from Houston, a lively town hall debate, Freddie Mercury and bandicoots. Plenty of bandicoots.

“Absolutely enjoyed this! The writing style is engaging and effortlessly brings the characters to life, each with their unique personality and background story. Peter perfectly captures the authentic voice and attitudes of teenagers, making it a fun and delightful read.
A highlight of the novella is the blend of humour and legal references. In particular, the clever incorporation of a CTP/ personal injury claim in the novella, which all the lawyers out there will for sure find entertaining and amusing.”

“Hunt’s prose is sharp, immersive, and brimming with charm. He masterfully balances humor and pathos, painting a vibrant picture of Sidebottom’s Reach and its residents. The pacing is spot on, keeping you hooked while allowing you to savor the delightful absurdity of each subplot. This is storytelling at its finest: deeply human, richly entertaining, and unapologetically fun.”
